Transitions. Space, social and economic disruptions in the Artisan Village of Modena

There are many and diverse legacies of the Golden Age in the Italian context. In the EmiliaRomagna case there are primarily a network of industrial clusters and small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises. Often places are still active, they produce and live although with less intensity and, in some cases, seem to be endangered. Through the study of the events and phenomena, that have involved the West Artisan Village of Modena, we can figure out what possible future have these spaces, but also how it changed and will change their relationship with the city in a time of important transition. Post gentrification scenarios


“Contemporary gentrification is varied and defies more singular definitions because gentrification now occurs in a variety of sites and takes a myriad of forms.”

The goal of this paper is to investigate the gentrification phenomenon in Berlin’s central districts through the locational dynamics analysis and the observation of relative effects on this territory. Taken for granted this phenomenon’s mutability, the main purpose is to understand the actual “post gentrification” scenario. Read more

Leonardo Benevolo (1923-2017)


Leonardo Benevolo (1923-2017) was an architect, urban planner and theorist of the  Twentieth Century. Author of a wide bibliography and some basic texts for our disciplines, he has had an extraordinary influence in the training courses of generations of students. In view of his outstanding legacy and the remarkable proliferation of writings, commendations and memories on his intellectual work and its human and professional figure, it seems relevant here make memory through some thoughts emerged within a debate held with young students of architecture. Villagexpo in Nantes, inhabit an experimentation


In the late sixties the French government had undertaken multiple researches and experimentations in the field of dwelling, within that tendency that Lukasz Stanek called “institutionalization of critic”.
