Trajectories in Urban Research
Trajectories in Urban Research is a programme of 6 seminars promoted by a group of scholars of the Dipartimento Interateneo di Scienze, Progetto e Politiche del Territorio at Politecnico di Torino and of the Dipartimento di Architettura e Studi Urbani at Politecnico di Milano. The six seminars will discuss the results of research projects that deal with cities, their transformations, policies and projects.
The research projects have been developed in the past months in the two departments, jointly or within different networks of actors. Some are already completed and their outcomes published, some others are still ongoing. Beyond the variety of the themes, they share a similar approach. Moreover, they are oriented to generate further research pathways in the domain of urbanism, developing a terrain for final master of science and PhD theses.
The series of seminars reports about these research and training activities: in each date a closed seminar (by invitation only) is dedicated to the discussion of outcomes of graduating students and PhD candidates, and an open seminar is dedicated to a public presentation and discussion. Distinguished scholars and policy makers will contribute to a wide-ranging confrontation.
The overall aim is to investigate and understand the implications of recent societal, economic and urban changes on the culture of urban and architectural design and policies, with reference to some themes that are central in the contemporary city. A further objective is to strengthen the links and cooperation among the two departments and the involved institutions, beyond the traditional networks of academic research and on the basis of contents, objectives and methods of urban research.
